Everyone says that they'll work for someone someday and earn some money to go by, but most of them don't know much about work. The highest percentage of those people are youths. In the long run, they get to realize the pains of work in very complex ways.
As few youths understand work, only a few of them end up working on something for a long time without getting frustrated or burning out.
The only time guys get to know the harsh truths about work is when they've left the comfort of staying at home. When they don't have anything else to fall back to, they become very serious and start contemplating on why they weren't when they had the opportunity of being able to go back to daddy.
Why most youths don't know work
1. Freedom
When you have something to fall back to, you avoid everything that frustrates you. Take an example, months ago, I got hired on freelancer and I got a task to accomplish.
I did all I thought was good and submitted it. What happened is that the guy threw back the work at me with several comments for about five times and I freaked out. I know it was wrong, but because I knew I had a cushion, I left him.
Seen that. I can't say I don't regret for what I did because it made me realize what work is all about.
If you don't put the best into your work and accept all sensible corrections no matter how many they are, you'll remain who you are.
2. Stress
Sitting at home and listening to music is great isn't it? Work isn't that so great. There's so much stress mostly when your pay depends on the value you are giving someone and not the time you spend with that person.
When you are a youth, any stress beyond even a small threshold can break you yet that's how work is. If you can't move away from your comfort, forget about any benefit.
3. Payment
How your work pays off at the end of the day matters a lot to many people. If it's an employment opportunity, newbies expect to earn like the professionals forgetting that even great guys started earning a dollar per task. They then continued perfecting and soom they got to multiple digit numbers.
If it's work in your own business, most of we Young people want instant gratification. Carrying a business isn't anywhere near easy. It's so far away from easy that it can give so much headache. Look at a youtuber who posts videos regularly only to realize real traffic five months afterwards. If that guy was lighthearted he would leave YouTube at once and continue on other sensible things like playing games online.
If you can't hang on and collect the little money then just forget about it and then learn work when you are grown.
The real facts about employment
Once you get employed, you'll feel it. In the beginning, it'll be very difficult for you to change from being lazy to finishing several tasks in time and being very precise.
You'll have to keep it in mind that the man or woman who employed you pays you monthly or hourly and any laziness revealed will ultimately lead to you being fired. If you stayed broke for sometime after college and spent a bunch of years looking for a job, then all you'll do is break your back by force and work like hell.
So, what's the resolution
How you can survive
If you get busy now, you won't mind anything then. Love work and stick to your work no matter how frustrating it may be because it will never stop being that.
Learn to do tasks to their completion. Most youngers do something for the start and escape leaving the real adults to do the real job. Adults always complete tasks because they know what will happen if they don't.
Keep the hopes high. Comment your thoughts, ask questions and make any additions. Thanks for reading to the end.
